Poker Tournament Results

I thought I would create a blog page to show my poker tournament results. I will update it as often as possible, and hopefully it will be something to reflect on and maybe even teach me something in the future. I am starting this a couple weeks after I started playing tournaments so the first few will be as accurate as I remember.

August 29th: $30 buy-in, approx. 90 people. Finished 70ish. Top 10 get money. Final hand, J4 of diamonds, flop was 3 random cards with 2 diamonds, I go all in, someone with 2 higher diamonds calls me, and that was the end.

September 12th: $30 buy-in, approx. 90 people. Finished 35ish. Top 10 get money. Key hand, pocket 10s v pocket 9s. 9 on the flop. That gave me 300 chips with 100-200 blinds. Got it all in with KQ (me) v AQ v J5. Board KJ10,10,4

September 15th: $30 buy-in, approx. 90 people. Finished 17th. Top 10 get money. Final hand, A7 v Q3. Queen on the flop.

September 19th: $30 buy-in, approx. 85 people. Split money with 5 people left, $435 per person at that point. Had Aces 3 times, Kings twice, and Queens twice. Won all 7 times with those hands.

September 22nd: $30 buy-in, 97 people. Went out like 68ish. Funny thing was day before I joked about going card dead because of all the big hands I had the previous tournament, and that is what happened here. My best starting hands all night were pocket 8s twice and AQ which was my final hand. Won 2 hands the entire time. Final hand was AQ v JJ and couldn't pull it off.

September 26th: $30 buy-in, 94 people. Went out like 55ish. Another card dead day. Don't even remember the day really.

September 28th: $60 buy-in, 82 people. Went out 42nd. Another card dead day. The few times I got a hand to start with, I would either raise and everyone fold, or limp and the flop come out and miss me completely. Final hand I went all in with A9 and got called by someone with A3 and JJ who checked it down to take me out.

September 29th: $30 buy-in, 95ish people??? I didn't look to see how many people started. Finished 9th. Roller coaster day, started out hot, then went card dead through the middle of the tournament, then got hot again to make the final table. When we got to 10 we tried to split the money but 2 guys were being dicks and wanted money from other people cause they had a few more chips than anyone else. Ended up playing it out, got pocket Qs and got it all in against AK and a king hit the flop. Couldn't catch up and that crippled me plus I was in the big blind next hand and was all in regardless. Cashed for $120.

October 3rd: $30 buy-in, 90ish people. Writing this on October 15th so can't remember a lot from this one cause nothing crazy happened, another mid-tourny finish.

October 6th: $30 buy-in, 90ish people. Again writing this on October 15th. Did finish 15th in this tourny, no money, just enough to waste my time. Final hand was AQ v JJ.

October 10th: $30 buy-in, 90ish people. Again, writing this on October 15th. Not much to remember here since I went out of the 3rd hand of the tourny. Got AJ and an ace hit the flop, other guy had AQ. Not much I could do about that one.

Five....

Don't worry, I know what you're thinking. "What does five stand for??" Well, it's rather simple really, it's the number of major things that have happened since my last post on here. Yea yea, so it isn't the greatest title ever, but feel free to stop reading if it's bothering you.

So lets start with number 1. The biggest thing that has happened is.......stupid Facebook has decided to combine their messaging and chat systems into one. I don't know, maybe it isn't that important, but I bet there are a few people out there that agree with me when I say that sometimes upgrading isn't helping.

So getting to the more important things in life other than Facebook, and the 2nd major thing that has happened/is happening is the NBA Finals. Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat. I'm a Heat fan, have been for years, so yes, I do love the fact that you hate me. Truth be told, there are only a hand full (handfull? handful?) of NBA fans whose opinions I actually care about. I predicted Heat in 6 or 7 games. Tonight's game 4 will go a long way in determining the winner, but I am leaning towards 6 games over 7.

Third, the NFL Lockout is still in place. Raise your hand if you remember the 20 hours that it was actually lifted. I've never doubted that there will be some type of season this year, but with the recent events and court rulings, I have my concerns that there will be a full season. I am personally predicting a 10-12 game season. With that being said, flashback to 5 years ago and imagine Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, and Plaxico Burress all free agents, who would have thought there would be such an elite class of receivers. Flashback to today, and imagine Terrell Owens being the top option of those guys, and he is gonna be 38 before the season is over. Anyway, like the majority of other males over 18, I wish owners and players would get their act together and get the season going.

Fourth, my best friend Erik (whose name has been changed to protect him lol) got married a little over a week ago. I was the best man, and boy was that a hectic weekend. But you know what, I wouldn't change it for anything. (And that isn't true, after a discussion with Erik, I think I would have traded it for as low as $100,000.00). He's Jewish, so for those that don't know, when you get married you get to step on a glass and have other people raise you up while you sit in a chair. It was a pretty pimp wedding except for the fact that I am terrible at giving speeches and I got to give a speech.

Fifth, and possibly the biggest thing that has happened since my last post, I am for sure moving to Arizona later this year. Right now my date is August 21st, but that could always change and get bumped up. I thought a lot of people knew, but apparently not, so I figured I would write about it. People always ask me why I want to leave, and I always say the same thing. It is gonna put me in a great position to further my poker career, and at the same time it gives me a fresh start somewhere else. Then those same people always say, it's gonna be a lot different than here, and all I can think is, well no duh ya idiot, if I wanted to live in a place like this I wouldn't move.

And on that note, it is amazing how many people think I will fail at playing poker professionally. Who knows, maybe I will, but at least I can say I tried to achieve my dream. Can you say that???

Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow....wait...Gold???

So most anyone that listens to the radio or likes the Pittsburgh Steelers has heard of the song "Black and Yellow" by some guy that doesn't know how to spell (Wiz Khalifa).

I personally don't have a problem with the song. I don't hate it, but I'm not saying I want to hear it 20 times a day either. But what I do have a problem with is the inaccurate information that the Wikipedia page says about the song. Click --------> Here for a link to the Wiki page.

P.S. Wikipedia is the ultimate source of knowledge. College professors are retarded to think otherwise.

But if you read on the wiki page, it says the song is "in a reference to the colors of the City of Pittsburgh and to Pittsburgh's sports teams, most of which also have the colors black and yellow, most notably football team the Pittsburgh Steelers."

Now would be the time to hit the noise button that you would hear on Family Feud when someone gives a wrong answer. The Steelers colors are CLEARLY black, GOLD, and white. Plus, if you actually listen to the song, he is talking about a car.

So, to get to the big point, the big finale, the climax of this post, below is a picture that I believe more accurately relates what he is singing about. (You might have to click on the picture box before it will load.....don't ask me why.)

That's right, he is ACTUALLY singing about the movie Transformers, and more specifically, the car, Bumblebee.

Radio-ed?

Radioed - The act of listening to a song on the radio and liking it, and then hearing the unedited version of the same song and no longer liking it.

Ex:

Phillip: Man I used to like the song until I heard the unedited version.
Curtis: Dude you've just been radioed.

This word and definition was entirely made up in my mind. Although with that said, if you find it somewhere else online, just know that I didn't steal it from them. Although I did have a dream the following night about how I was online and saw the word and definition somewhere and got pissed. lol

Blogging....

Man I am terrible at this thing. In theory I would like to post a blog every few days, or at least once a week at a minimum. My last post was like, October. So, major fail on my part. I will admit it is hard to bring myself to writing when the "i" key on my laptop works when it wants to, and my house computer is so old it takes forever to load a webpage.

So once again I will say that I am going to do better and write every now and then, so we shall see if I can keep my word this time.

So a quick recap of what has happened over the last 100 years since I last posted on here.
  • Went to Las Vegas from December 12th till December 17th. Didn't lose all my money and had a great time and met some great people.
  • My best friend asked me to be his best man for his wedding. So that's exciting and a little scary at the same time.
  • I'll be moving out West at some time this year. Assuming everything works out.

Also something called the Superbowl happened and I couldn't be happier that the Steelers lost. So many people on my facebook news feed were randomly Steelers fans so I was glad to see Green Bay beat them. Maybe next year the mighty Eagles will get there.

So until next time.........
